Ferropipe is one of the largest manufacturers of welded steel tube and pipe in India. Ferropipe produces welded steel tube and pipe within the diameter range DN15-100 and DN400-1200. Ferropipe steel pipe for pressure equipment comply with the requirements of the Pressure Equipment Directive. Steel pipe for pressure equipment are manufactured for delivery from the works.
Inspection and testing
pipe shall be inspected and tested using the methods and frequencies stated in the standards.Steel pipe for pressure equipment manufactured by Ferropipe in accordance with EN 10217. Leak tightness tests and non-destructive Testing (NDT) in accordance with EN 10217 shall be carried out as follows:
Leak tightness test
The leak tightness of each pipe shall be tested by a hydrostatic test or an electromagnetic test. The hydrostatic test shall be carried out at a test pressure of 70 bar or at a test pressure P calculated using the following equation, whichever is lower. The tube shall withstand the test without showing leakage or visible deformation. The electromagnetic test shall be carried out in accordance with the EN 10246-1 standard.
Non-destructive testing (NDT)
NDT shall be carried out on the weld of a tube. For tube of the test category 2 (TC2), NDT shall be carried out on the base material as well.
Markings on pipe
Steel pipe for pressure equipment shall be marked in accordance with the delivery condition standards either by stenciling or stamping. Other marking methods and markings may be agreed on at the time of order. Inspection documents An inspection document in accordance with the EN 10204-3.1 standard is always provided for pipe For pressure equipment manufactured by Ferropipe as per EN 10217-2 and -5. An inspection document 2.2 is provided for pipe for pressure equipment as per EN 10217-1 TR1, and optionally an inspection document 3.1. The pressure equipment category (I – IV) stated at the time of order will be taken into account in the marking in the inspection Document.
Hot-Dipped Galvanized tube
Pipe is galvanized to the requirements of ASTM A 53. The average weight of zinc coating shall not be less than 1.8 ounces per square foot of surface (inside and outside). When galvanized pipe is bent or otherwise fabricated to a degree that causes the zinc coating to stretch or compress beyond the limit of elasticity, some flaking of the coating may occur.
